'作家宣言文 — 感覺과 思惟의 擴張'

[강경호이야기] 나는 예술을 감각과 사유의 확장으로 이해한다. 개념미술(槪念美術)은 그 확장의 장르이며, 나에게는 존재를 묻는 방식이다. 조셉 코수스와 솔 류윗이 “예술은 개념이다”라고 선언하며 예술의 판을 뒤흔들었듯, 나 역시 ‘왜’라는 질문에서 창작을 시작한다. 그러나 나는 개념미술이 단지 현학적(衒學的) 언어의 나열이나 궤변적(詭辯的) 논리로 오해되는 것을 경계한다. 개념미술은 결코 작가적 실력 없이 성립될 수 없다. 아이디어가 아무리 뛰어나더라도 그것을 감각적으로 실현할 수 없다면, 예술은 관념(觀念)에 머물 뿐이다. 나는 오늘도 감각과 사유의 경계를 넘으며, 나만의 언어로 세계를 다시 묻는다.

Artist’s Manifesto — Expansion of Sensation and Thought

[Kang Gyeongho Story] I understand art as an expansion of sensation and thought. Conceptual art is a genre of that expansion and, to me, a way of questioning existence. Just as Joseph Kosuth and Sol LeWitt once shook the foundations of art by declaring, “Art is a concept,” I too begin my creative process with the question “Why.” Yet I am wary of conceptual art being misunderstood as mere strings of esoteric language or convoluted logic. Conceptual art cannot exist without the artist’s genuine skill. No matter how brilliant an idea may be, if it cannot be sensuously realized, it remains a mere abstraction. Today, I continue to cross the boundaries of sensation and thought, questioning the world anew through a language that is uniquely mine.
