2023년 여름의 대화는 지금도 의미 있는 기록으로 남아 있다. 그 이후 권상인 이사장은 국제 도예 교류전과 정기전을 통해 꾸준히 활동하며 도예문화의 흐름을 이어왔다. 이 글은 당시 기록을 오늘의 시점에서 다시 소개한다. 한국 도예문화와 그녀의 활동이 국경을 넘어 알려지기를 바라는 마음으로, 그날의 대화를 다시 꺼내어 전한다.

■ Supplementary Record After That Day (Dec 28, 2025)
The dialogue in the summer of 2023 still remains a meaningful record. Since then, Ms. Kwon Sang-in has continued her activities through international ceramic exchange exhibitions and regular shows, steadily carrying forward the flow of ceramic culture. This article reintroduces that record from today’s perspective. With the hope that Korean ceramic culture and her work will be known beyond borders, we revisit the dialogue of that day.
■ Story of Kang GyeongHo
On a weekend afternoon when a sudden heavy rain poured down, I met Ms. Kwon Sang-in, Director of the Busan Cultural Heritage Research Association. Remembering her impressive works from previous exhibitions where tradition and modernity coexisted, I asked about the current state of ceramic culture. At the appointed time, I entered the “Sanmok & Hwi Museum” in Haeundae, and unexpectedly, Professor Emeritus Lee Ki-joo of Kyungsung University was also present. Both had retired from the Department of Craft Design at Kyungsung University, serving as Dean of the College of Arts and Dean of the Graduate School of Industry, and had contributed to Korean-Japanese ceramic culture research and the development of regional ceramic culture.
The conversation, beginning at the Sanmok Museum founded in 2007, recalled Ms. Kwon’s mentor, the late Professor Misahiko Sato of Kyoto City University of Arts, the International Contemporary Ceramic Exhibition at the Aichi Prefectural Ceramic Museum (1994), the Zaragoza International Contemporary Ceramic Exhibition in Spain (2006), and the “New Encounters” exhibition in Kolkata, India (2012), which attracted more than 3,000 visitors per day. They also discussed the background of the establishment of the Korea-Japan Ceramic College in 1992 and the founding of the Busan Cultural Heritage Research Association in 2019.

(July 7, 2023)Ms. Kwon shared her future plans: focusing on developing the identity of Busan crafts and creating cultural tourism products and content based on diverse cultural heritage. She envisioned presenting research and results in the following year. Her solid research into ceramic history seemed likely to lead traditional ceramics and modern aesthetics into a unique realm.
Through the medium of ceramics—its material and genre—the two senior professors demonstrated their will and practice to bridge “art and life, tradition and modernity.” Their presence reflected both the development of ceramic culture and the current state of regional crafts.

2023年夏の対話は、今もなお意味ある記録として残っている。その後、権尚仁（クォン・サンイン）理事長は国際陶芸交流展や定期展を通じて着実に活動を続け、陶芸文化の流れを継承してきた。本稿は当時の記録を今日の視点から改めて紹介するものである。韓国の陶芸文化と彼女の活動が国境を越えて知られることを願い、あの日の対話を再び取り上げる。

一時的に激しい雨が降った週末の午後、筆者は釜山文化遺産研究会の権相仁理事長に会った。伝統と現代が共存する印象的な作品を以前の展示で覚えており、「陶芸文化の近況」に関する依頼であった。約束の時間に海雲台「山木＆輝美術館」の扉を開けると、思いがけず慶星大学の李基柱名誉教授も同席していた。
両氏とも慶星大学工芸デザイン学科の定年教授であり、芸術大学長や産業大学院長を務めた陶芸家・陶芸研究者である。日韓陶芸文化研究や地域陶芸文化の発展・裾野拡大に貢献してきた。
2007年に開館した山木美術館で始まったこの日の対話は、権理事長の指導教授であった京都市立芸術大学の故・佐藤美佐彦教授（日本現代陶芸を代表）、韓国作家として唯一招待された愛知県陶磁資料館特別企画国際現代陶芸展（1994）、スペイン・サラゴサ国際現代陶芸展（2006）、1日3千人以上が訪れたインド・カルカッタ「新しい出会い展」（2012）などを回想しつつ、同時代の陶芸文化を振り返る時間となった。また1992年の日韓陶芸大学設立の背景や2019年の釜山文化遺産研究会発足についても語り合った。

陶芸というジャンルと物性を通じて「芸術と生活、伝統と現代」という美学的接点の隔たりを、持続的な研究と実践的な活動で実現する両名誉教授の意志と姿勢から、陶芸文化の発展と地域工芸の現状をかすかに確認することができた。
