ADFA(Analog-Digital Fusion Art, 아날로그-디지털 융합 예술)는 기술과 감각의 결합을 넘어, “예술이란 무엇인가”라는 오래된 질문을 디지털 시대에 다시 제기하는 선언이다. 이는 인간의 주체성과 감각을 확장하려는 시도이며, 예술의 본질을 새롭게 탐구하는 과정이다. 우리는 여전히 ‘미술’과 ‘예술’을 같은 맥락에서 혼용하지만, 그 차이를 성찰하지 않는 순간 예술의 의미는 희미해진다.

ADFA (Analog-Digital Fusion Art) is not a mere fusion of technology and sensation. It is a declaration that reopens the ancient question, “What is art?” in the digital age. It is an attempt to expand human subjectivity and perception, and a process of re-examining the essence of art. We still use “art” and “fine art” interchangeably, but when we fail to reflect on their distinction, the meaning of art becomes blurred.

ADFA fine art is a visible experiment. Ink spreading across paper meets algorithms to create new orders; painterly sensibility collides with pixels; virtual and real spaces are explored simultaneously. The audience experiences the collapse of visual boundaries in the instant when matter and pixels confront each other. The central question is “How is itshown?”

ADFA aesthetics is not confined to outcomes. It is a system of thought that explores unconsciousness, desire, and essence at the intersection of human memory and algorithms. Art is not a finished picture, but the tremor and the question we pose before it. The expansion of social discourse, the coexistence of virtual and real, and the declaration of artistic subjectivity all ask, “Why art?” ADFA aesthetics is the very process in which the audience thinks and reflects through the work.

Common assumptions—“Fine art is identical to art,” “Digital is nothing but a tool,” “Art is merely a product”—all obscure the essence. Fine art is a visual medium, while art is a philosophical foundation. The greatest danger lies in confusing the two, reducing digital to a tool, or understanding art only as a result. To avoid this, we must continually ask, “What is the essence?”

ADFA fine art and ADFA aesthetics sustain each other in tension. Fine art is the visual means that realizes art, while art is the system of thought that gives meaning to fine art. When this structural distinction is clearly recognized, ADFA functions as a bridge between humanity and the world, opening new horizons for art in the digital age.
